The performance of 3Di on the world stage has given superyacht owners greater confidence in selecting 3Di sails, says Marketing Manager Andrew Wills, which means that the boats that wear this extraordinary sail cloth, keep growing in size.
The J-class Endeavour, which was refurbished by Yachting Developments in Auckland, was also relaunched with 3Di sails this month. The sails are dressed with white film instead of the traditional grey, in keeping with the boat’s traditional colour scheme. Next up is a wardrobe for fellow J-Class, Ranger.
And while things may not be going brilliantly for Camper in the Volvo Ocean Race, 3Di has continued to perform reliably, showing that it is the way of the future for high performance offshore sailing.
“3Di has definitely helped all of the boats to get around the world with a limited amount of sails,” says Andrew Wills. “Camper pushed the weight boundaries more than anyone else, but 3Di has stood up very well. Repairs have been fairly minor, and when they have been required, are easy to implement.” Camper has not yet had to use a sail button.
