© NSNZAs a young South Island sailor, Hayden Whitburn was already a North Sails customer: he always used North Sails in his Optimist and P-class. “Being based in the South Island it was always exciting as a Junior coming in to visit the big loft,” he says.

Hayden moved to Auckland while he was in high school in order to pursue his sailing in the 29er and Hobie 16 class, and graduated from the Royal NZ Yacht Squadron Youth Scheme where he learned the art of matchracing. Hayden currently competes on a range of local boats including MRXs and Young 88s.

“I enjoy working at Norths as we are involved with many Custom Projects. We have a great team here to work with and everyone is striving to make the best possible product,” he says.
